NEW BROOK TAMAR BUILD
At the end of last summer my wife persuaded me to retire. I had been thinking about having a guitar built to celebrate and reward myself for quite some time. I had several conversations about this idea with Simon at Brook guitars and we began to finalize the details this past fall. The build officially commenced in late January. It will be a 12fret, Tamar with Koa back and sides and a Sitka top with a scale length of 25.5”. The fretboard, bridge, and headstock will be made from African Blackwood and the neck is made from a gorgeous hunk of African Padauk. An idea I borrowed from our very own TomB’sox and his recent Tirga Mohr made by Rory Dowling.
I have some special inlays designed for the headstock and fretboard which I’ll share as the build progresses. Needless to say they are off to a good start. |

Congratulations, that looks really good. Played a couple of Brooks in my search and they were really nice guitars.

Congrats on retirement and the new build. Really liked the Couple of Brooks I have played and consider the 2 I passed on after playing them for hours in a trial to be among the ones I should not have let get away. Would really like to get back to England and The Isles again and stop by there for a visit and look see. Enjoy.
Jeff

Brook!
In my humble opinion Brook Guitars are severely underrated, not sure why. The build quality, consistency and tone are all right up there with some of the very best. Seriously. And the price, omg.
I can still remember the entire experience of my first custom guitar - it was 18 years ago and I was a poor student in London then! But when I played a Brook in a dealer's basement on Oxford Street (Ivor Mairants I think its called) I knew I had to drive to Exeter to visit Andy and Simon! I chose a set of Mastergrade European Spruce and a set of European Flamed Maple and told Simon please, I do not have enough money to commission an instrument now but mark my words I will be back to claim these woods. I was into buying and selling guitars and I set myself a target to earn enough profit to get myself a Brook before I graduated and was over the moon when I called Simon and told him "I'm ready". I received the completed guitar 1 week before I left London for good! Congratulations on your retirement and also on the acquisition of a great instrument! Very very nice combination of woods on your guitar.
