This question feels a little subjective to me, as I fear some may consider my $500 Yamaha FGX730SCA a mid level guitar. That said, I would put that guitar on any stage against any guitar and feel no shame. Every guitar player who ever hears it says it sounds incredible, asks what it is, and shake their head in disbelief when they find out it's a laminate back and sides Yamaha that costs what it does.
I worked my butt off to save up the cash for it. It was my second guitar. They gave me a cash discount at GC, so with gig bag, strap, capo, and picks I was out the door for under $500 back in late 2010. I started playing in July 2010. If you don’t count that as pro level, I got a Takamine P5DC a year or two ago. It's definitely pro level, yet it has laminate sides. I got an AC3R when they first came out around 2012. Is that pro level? I've owned a A5R. Is that pro level? My third guitar was an LLX6A. I got it two months after I got my FGX730SCA. Is the LLX6A pro level?

What was your first professional level acoustic?
A Gibson B45-12 "Sundown" I bought myself as a college graduation present, followed in short order by a Martin D-45 - both since sold...

My first "professional grade acoustic" would be the 1939 Epiphone Triumph archtop that I found in its case on a garbage pile on its way to the dump.
I think I was 15 at the time and kept and played it for several years. I eventually sold it, because I felt like it really needed to be in the hands of a jazz player. |

Anything was a step up from my first guitar, a no name $25 nylon string “folk Guitar”.
Had it for around a year then got a guild D25 (sometime around 1977). Though I’d died and gone to heaven. Had it for around 15 years. First (acoustic) guitar purchased with the intent to gig was a Taylor 710. Great guitar but could not bound with the then new expression system. So I traded it in for a Takamine Santa Fe.

1995 or so Martin DC-1....a few days later I realized I was more of a fingerstyle guy and returned it within the window to get a 000C-16T, a sweet experimental small body Martin with a cutaway and nice inlays. I still miss that guitar...traded it in to a dealer in Longmont CO for a cutaway D-28 which is now long gone...

My first really nice pro level acoustic was a Guild D-55 that I bought new at GC in 2000. Later traded it in for a Martin HD-35. It all started back then!! Shortly after by 2002 I discovered the glories of Santa Cruz Guitars.

Mine was a Yamaha LL-45. The biggest musical mistake of my life was trading that guitar. I don’t even remember which guitar I got in the trade. DUMB move!
