Photo Of Pickup Republic Duolian Resonator Guitar with Schatten NR-2 Piezo Pickup
My new Republic Guitars Duolian Resonator should be arriving this Monday from Austin, Texas. I opted for the Duolian model as it's the closest in style, reasonably-priced resonator to the 1930s National Style O that Son House played when I saw him live in 1964. I had the choice of adding either a Lace Humbucker or a Schatten NR-2 Piezo Biscuit Pickup and opted for the Schatten NR-2 as I wanted the guitar to amplify more like its acoustic tonal characteristics rather than sounding electric. The Schatten NR-2 is a passive pickup and looks like it's the top sensor component of the Schatten HFN pickup with its three-footed base removed. I'm especially looking forward to hearing this Republic resonator/Schatten pickup rig routed through the Sarno Steel Guitar Black Box Tube Preamp when that unit arrives.

Yesterday, the Republic Duolian with Schatten NR-2 arrived safe and sound via UPS. Review of guitar and pickup to be posted this coming weekend. More to come ...

LOL. From the looks of it, you won't need any electronic help to hear that little monster. Good luck with trying to hear enough of the amplified sound (over the acoustic sound) to evaluate the pickup/black box combo.

I use K&K mini's on the top of the biscuit, just as you have done here, and put it through a Tonedexter and it sounds great. Mine is a '32 Style O, which is the same basic guitar as yours.
