I have a 2016 that had an LR Baggs Anthem, I think the previous ones close year to that had some sort of LR Baggs as well.

Maybe a Lyric?? anyway if the mounting plate that you can see is cream or white with black controls, it's probably at least some kind of LR Baggs pickup

it has just a volume control,no proper mounting plate, nothing that looks like the LRBaggs I had,no even the element that I had on a J45.I seem to remember reading that they were using some sort of fishmans as well.

Yea the pickups they put in them every year or two get cycled out for something else it seems.

It could be a fishman, they've certainly used them before.

Not sure how responsive they will be but customer service would be able to pin it down for you

sometimes, they answer, sometimes, they dont..

Many of these came equipped with a Baggs Element, although many owners dumped the Element for a better sounding pickup if yours isn't original issue. Does it have the 9 volt battery bag or mounting clip for battery?

Fishmans have the same kind of battery bag, But you're right about the Baggs Element, that's probably more likely the one you'd find in some of these vs. the lyric.

for that build era, most likely it's a fishman or the Baggs of some sort.

Where is the volume knob located?

My 2003 J-45 has no such knob.

My long-gone 2007 Gibson J-45 Honeyburst Koa Custom had the LR Baggs Element factory-installed and it had just the soundhole volume control.
