Post more tuner button questions

Here's a question for all you technical term people (not me) after all the talk a while back about changing the to ebony tuning buttons I decided that I am going to change the buttons on my new Webber, so I emailed David to see if I could get them from him. Anyway He uses two different sizes here is part of the message that he sent me

And I quote

"On the OM model I usually use Gotoh minis .If the screw tang is parallel to
The tuner body they are minis or SG 36's.If the tang points out on a 45
Degree angle they are SG 38's."

Anyway to my question what the heck does tang mean?? I always thought that it was that orange stuff that you drink??
thanks

My guesses:

The "tang" is the post onto which you will put the new ebony knobs.

So....
For my second guess, which is really a guess, I would say that if that tang is just like the tuners Taylor uses, it would be parallel. So then, if you could picture the knobs going directly back instead of out, that would be the 45 degree angle. Whaddya think?

My guess: the tang is the little extension of the tuner case, through which you attach the tuner case to the headstock with the little screws. They can be either "straight" in relation to the case, or at a 45 degree angle. Either way, you're not changing the case, just the buttons, but you need to determine which model tuners you have in order to get the right buttons.

You can see some pix at www.stew-mac.com:

Isn't the Tang that little piece of metal that sticks out from the back with a screw hole in it? The one that prevents the tuner from twisting. You screw into the back of the headstock with a very small screw.
