Default NMD New Mic Day...AKG C214....

As soon as I plugged it in and said "CheckCheck" I knew I had a very special mic. It sounded really good to me. Then I tried it on vocals and acoustic guitar....you be the judge.....

I liked it so much I bought a second one for recording in stereo....I bought both mics used but in mint condition, and saved a fortune off the new price.

Yes me too. The 214 is just like the 414 but only has one capsule in it. You can find them very reasonable on reverb.com or eBay.

I used to have a pair of c214's and liked them very much.

FYI the c214 is not the same capsule as the c414. The c214 is an electret capsule, while the c414 is an externally polarized capsule. They do sound reasonably similar though.

It is a great mic. I used one or two of them on most of my YouTube videos, most live shows etc. It’s not the same as the 414, which i’ve Also used, but very close, and a faction of the price. Oh, and it’s very durable too. Years of gigging with it, my 214 hit ground a number of times. Lots of dings and dents, but never a problem.

Keep in mind that it is sensitive in the higher frequencies and is capturing your breathing. Just something to be aware of when you record.
