Robert Johnson and BEYOND.

In addition to learning these six songs I will teach you how to add a TON of additional licks which will improve your playing and give you the ability to turn any one of these songs into one of your own.

You'll be able to put YOUR stamp on them, something no other instructional method shows you how to do!!!

In "Drunken Hearted Man" you'll learn:
• The unique chords that Johnson used
• Johnson's use of double-stop triplets
• The oddest turnaround of all
• Lonnie Johnson's jazzy licks and how to add them to this song
• Interesting ways to play a G chord in Drop D tuning. There are a total of 8 movies and 3 pages of tab chock full of licks.

In "Stop Breaking Down" you'll learn:
• The unique way Johnson played - without a slide - in Spanish tuning.
• Johnson's use of shuffle bass with added notes on top.
• How to add a "Double Time" technique to spice up your solos.
• Additional licks, bass runs, and double stops in Spanish Tuning.

In "When You Got A Good Friend" you'll learn:
• How to use common tones in chords to add variety.
• "Open Note Transportation" - seamlessly playing across the fingerboard.
• Getting the most out of diminished, 6th, and 9th chords.
• Using triplets in your solos.

In "Steady Rolling Man" you'll learn:
• How to play tasteful triplet licks above a steady bass line.
• How to turn one lick into a "pocket full" of equally exciting and diverse ones.
• How to combine boogie woogie bass lines with other notes of the chord .
• The "backwards triplet roll" - a cool way to use arpeggios.
• How to improvise and come up with your own versions of the song.
• How to apply these licks to other songs.

In "They're Red Hot" you'll learn:
• The use of chord substitutions with 9th, added 9th, diminished, and 6th chords.
• How to move from one 7th chord to another with "The Diminished Bridge.'"
• Right hand techniques such as a banjo "backward roll," the "Boom Chuck," and what I like to call "The Corkscrew."

In "Hell Hound On My Trail" you'll learn:
• The "crossnote" tuning that Johnson used and how to REALLY use it!
• The powerful way descending bass lines work.
• How I use "Bentonia" chords to add even more ideas to this song.
• How to improvise and come up with your own versions of the song.
• How to apply the E minor and B minor pentatonic scales to create interesting licks.

Level: for intermediate players as well as advanced - you'll need to know how to play your open chords and be able to do some basic fingerpicking patterns.

Here's how to order:

Learning Slide Guitar

In this course we'll start off with the fundamentals of playing slide, but after that we're off to the races with a NEW SET OF SONGS in Open G tuning, which was used extensively through the Mississippi Delta.

You'll learn the songs of Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and Son House. I'll also show you the different ways that you can expand upon those songs with different chords, solos, and hot licks. This will give you the ability to create your own variations!!!

You'll learn:
• How to get the best tone
• How to get rid of unwanted notes by muting
• How to expand upon a song once you learn the basics
• Several songs in the styles of the slide guitar giants.
• Fingerpicking the bass while playing slide melodies.

Doing More With Less
How to play expressive acoustic lead guitar without breaking any speed limits.

A comprehensive and easy to learn method for playing tasteful, expressive, and inventive acoustic lead guitar solos without breaking any speed limits!

There are three in this series:

The Blues.
Country Pickin.'
Mastering the Modes

Played with a flatpick or fingerpicks, these lessons are adaptable to both styles.

For those of you who have never played lead guitar, or for those that have dabbled but really wanted to improve their game, this series of lessons are for you.

You won’t have to ‘break any speed limits’ or develop difficult technical abilities in order to benefit from these lessons. I specifically designed them for the player that wants add some tasty, single line lead playing to either songs they play as a solo player, or songs that they like to play with others. That's right, it's for solo players and jammers!

From my years of experience in playing lead guitar, I’ve taken everything I know and put it into this series. Rather than just stringing a bunch of ‘licks’ together (you'll get plenty of those!), you’ll learn how to phrase them in a way that will make your solos say something truly meaningful. I do this by showing you some basic, simple, but incredibly powerful concepts.

In each of the series I also include the same backing tracks that I’m playing along to in the lessons. You’ll be able to practice what I show you right along with them.

You can play these lessons with a pick, fingerpicks, or just your bare fingers.

Hours of instructional videos and a book's worth of tab.

MASTER CLASS
THREE SHOWSTOPPER SONGS THAT WILL PUT YOU INTO THE MASTER CLASS!

For quite some time I've been asked to teach some of my most popular, 'show-stoppering' songs that I begin or end some of my performances with. Well, here they are.

I've arranged three songs that include a ton of variations, tricks, licks and cool techniques. I also take the time to explain how I came up with these arrangements, so that you too can come up with some of your own ideas.

• Sweet Georgia Brown - this goes well beyond what I've taught in the past. Jazzy chords and runs, lead licks over an alternating bass line, it's all here.

• Angeline The Baker - You'll learn how to build on this beautiful melody, adding droning bass notes, double-stop harmonics, Travis picking, variations and even some Dicky Betts style leads!!

• Cincinnati Flow Rag #2 - A step up from a version that I taught before, with added chord variations, moving bass lines, Doc Watson style bluegrass runs and much more.

When you finish even one of these pieces you'll be busting to show it off to all your friends, and your overall playing ability will find another high water mark!!

BONUS MATERIAL INCLUDES:
• My daily warmups to build right and left hand technique.
• How to get the most out of your practice time.
• Using that metronome - it CAN help you!!
• How to cope with performance pressure.

Default Nine Pound Hammer

Nine Pound Hammer - A Merle Travis Classic!

If you're familiar with 'Travis Picking' then this is the lesson for you. 'Nine Pound Hammer' is a wonderful example of the Piedmont, alternating bass style that used Merle Travis's name as it's namesake.

You'll learn this entire song, from start to finish with some walking bass lines thrown in for good measure.

You'll also learn a fun solo that's a real showstopper with some more moving bass lines, diminished chords, voice leading and the use of passing tones which will really enhance your playing.

This lesson was designed for students at an intermediate level of fingerpicking skills... if you can play a basic melody over an alternating bass then that's all you'll need.

Mctell and Leadbelly - Masters of the 12 String Guitar

lthough Blind Willie McTell and Leadbelly played the 12 string guitar, these lessons can be learned on a 6 string guitar as well.
You don't need a 12 string guitar to learn these songs!
In this set of lessons, I'll teach you how to play six songs from these two masters. In addition, I'll add solos to the songs AND show you how YOU can add your own solos.

From Leadbelly, you'll learn:
• Bourgeoisie Blues
• Fanin Street
• Silver City Bound

And from Willie McTell, I'll show you:
• Georgia Rag
• Stomp Down Rider
• Searching Desert For The Blues.

You'll learn alternate ways of playing chords, boogie-woogie bass lines, blues licks, "crooked" measures, solos in every song and how to add your own ideas.
