Default Olson SJ 2018 build

I’m a bit of a lurker and don’t post much, but thought some forum members might enjoy some pics of my recently delivered Olson SJ with cedar over BRW and fretboard inlays by Larry Robinson.

Wow, that fretboard is phenomenal! Larry is an inlay genius. (The rest of the guitar isn't bad either. )

Are you every able to stop looking at it long enough to play it? :-) That would be my dilemma. Perhaps playing in front of a mirror?

And that... is how a luthier retires in style. WOW. Incredible!

I know that inlay work is not for everyone, I love it! Even if it is not for you, you have to admire the craftsmanship it takes and then it includes an Olson...perfection.

I absolutely agree Tom. Not for me, but man what an artistic marvel! It is an incredible guitar.

Awesome guitar Alistair, thank you for sharing the images with us. What is your serial number, if I might ask? I got mine delivered two weeks ago, #1567. Loving it so far, as I'm sure you are yours.

Play it in good health!!!

Thank you! Mine is #1564

The - what I now realise is a 1992 guitar - is #273.

I had intended to visit Jim at his workshop to collect the guitar, however, two things conspired against me to prevent this. The first is that it is a long trip from Sydney. The second is that collecting the guitar in person required payment of Minnesota state taxes, which on a guitar of this value would have been significant.

Next time I am in the US I hope to visit both Jim and Larry.
