Default Guitalele Strings - Sore Fingers

Is it just me or is the strings on the Yamaha GL1 Guitalele smaller or sharper than strings on a regular Classical Guitar?

I do not use a pick. I use flesh only and after about an hour of fingerpicking my right hand fingers feel like they are sore. Sort of a burning sensation. Does any one else have an experience like this?

I replaced the stock strings on mine with standard D’Addario “Pro-Arte” guitar strings. Sounded much better and I never experienced anything like what you’re describing.

I have full scale Pro-Artes on my Cordoba Mini R. A thinner string designed for a shorter scale may hurt more until you build up more callous. If you're tuned to A, you could tune down a half or whole step to make the strings feel softer.
