New 'cheap' Classical Guitar
Can someone please recommend a relatively cheap classical guitar (preferably Yamaha)? Maximum of around £150 ($200). Solid top a priority.

You've listed your criteria at a clearly defined price point. How many Yamahas could there be to choose from?

The Yamaha C40 lists of $221 USD, but sells for $139. I believe the soundboard is a laminate, but at that price, you probably don't have much of a choice. I have played this model, and for what it is, it is a decent inexpensive guitar. Just have someone do a good setup, and you should be good to go.

I agree with nightflight. I just purchased a Yamaha CS40 last week. Yes, it needs to have a proper set. I have a few strings buzzing. Otherwise a real nice guitar for the price.

I wanted constructive help not sarcasm from someone who is obviously the ultimate 'expert', probably has 17 Gibson's, 23 Martin's and various others including one of Eric Clapton's which was personally given to you. I said 'preferably' Yamaha but maybe wrongly assumed that 'other brands are available'. Not being an expert myself just a pensioner trying to extend his life by keeping his mind active. I cannot afford 'posh' guitars, I would love a Martin but....... Have a nice day! Last edited by meddyliol; 09-09-2018 at 01:58 AM. |

I vote for the Cordoba C5. I don't own one but have read many good reviews.
