Default Amp Settings

I have a Fender Mustang iv Amp. There are many preset patches and amp models to choose from. What are your three favorite amp settings you have to make three distinctive guitar sounds ? Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass, Reverb. 0 - 10 on each. Thanks

I don't know, but on my acoustic I put the reverb to 8 and volume to 10.

On my Mustang II I use any one of the first three Fender amp simulation settings (65 Twin Reverb is probably my favourite of the three) and depending on what it is I will either play clean, add some reverb or add some delay. (Don't use anything else on the amp other than the in-built tuner).

I'm continually tweaking the treble knob when trying to dial in a clean "twang" using my Telecaster's bridge pickup in particular.

I have a IV and a III

The Twin for clean is hard to be, the Deluxe for blues and some rock tones, and the Supersonic for the higher gain settings, (although I don't use much gain these days) I also use the 59 bassman mode too. Good stuff!

Some of the marshall and vox settings (60's and 70's british) are quite usable too.

I think I may off the III and try the Marshall Code. I'll probably keep the Mustang IV, it's a pretty bad-a $ $ amp.

I have a Mustang III on order. It will be my first foray into electrics. I was looking at all the presets the other day and wondering if there's a website somewhere that equates the presets to guitarists? Seems like it would exist in the age of internet forums.

Being new to all this, it would be nice to find a list that said preset #13 = Keith Richards / Jumpin' Jack Flash, #20 = Black Keys / Thickfreakness , #06 = Eddie Van Halen / Eruption.

My top 3:

Clean: homemade Super Reverb preset - Twin Reverb with the Bassman cab, raise the sag a bit. With like settings, it sounds reasonably close to my actual SR. Gain low, volume moderately high, reverb on 3, tone to taste (I usually set all 3 to 7, then tweak from there)

Rock/Blues: Deluxe Reverb or 59 Bassman, depending on the song. The 57 Deluxe works well too. Tone settings as above.

Hard rock to metal: British 70's, gain and volume 8-10, and occasionally an OD pedal placed ahead of it for even more crunch. Tone to taste.

I have ended up on about 3 settings, but I cannot tell you the exact values:

57 Champ with 4x12V cab - this is my go to for both smooth rock, and crunch (with a gain adjustment). Volume up, gain only enough to get the dirt I want. The mid, treb, bass are near 5, but I adjust mids up or down depending on if I am singing a lot (down so my vocals can come through). This tends to give me a smoother signal.

British 60s, similar tone settings to above, but I use this when I want the notes to bite and stand out with each pick.

Reverb Deluxe - my country setting - add simple compressor and reverb. Settings again similar to above.

The names are clues to the song/artist names. However, the amp is so responsive to different guitars, that you really have to tweak individually. That is the key to happiness with this amp. Just find a couple sims you really like, and then experiment with it for a long time. Limit yourself for a while. When you get tired of the tone, explore another amp sim
