Default REVIEW- Kevin Michael Carbon Fiber Travel Guitar By Mcpherson Guitars

We start off with a Guitar Video..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99aM-26qt74

Just had this first two pieces that just arrived in Singapore.
It's pretty light weight and well made. The bracing pattern is interesting as you have a middle piece running from the top till almost near the end block. Then parrellel braces that is glued to that have a look at the pictures..

Braces ...

Picture of the nut

The binding of the headstock

Original saddle that was cut too low..i had it replaced

Beautiful on the outside, but the braces look ugly on the inside. Love to play and hear one.

They are using a gasket to attach the top to the side/back, which is probably a good idea and not something I recall seeing on any CA. Jon

Nice review. I recently bought a CA Cargo which seems very similar. Wonder how they stack up to each other side by side.

if i heard the video correctly (i jumped around a bit), the compensated saddle was added after it was sold. yet it has a compensated nut from the factory. interesting.

you have to use an outside source to upload your pictures to

imgur, flickr, photobucket to name a few. Then you copy the url of the photo you upload to any of these sites and paste it between the brackets that appear when you click the little yellow square in your editing tools that has the mountain on it.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum!

If you were a charter member @$25/yr., you could upload from your computer. As a registered user, you have to upload your pics to a third party host such as photobucket, then paste the link between the .

True, but you have to be careful to overwrite the "http://..." that auto fills or it won't work. That's why I always just type the .

Sorry that you are having problems - this certainly is not right. CF guitars should NOT shift like that. It almost sounds like the neck attachment is failing, either a glue joint or a bolt (no idea which is used). I don't have any advice on how to get McPherson's attention, but many small businesses are essentially shut down until January.

You might also have more luck in the Carbon Fiber specialty room of this forum, where most of us CF types hang out. Send a PM asking a moderator to move your thread.

I listened to the first video and didnt like the sound of the CF guitar as well as the wood guitar. I have heard other CF guitars that sounded good though.

Several years ago, before McPherson got into CF, I took a factory tour. The people I spoke with pointed out that they finish the interior of their guitars as meticulously as the exterior because they felt their guitars should be "perfect" in all regards. Anything less than perfection was unacceptable. Looking at the interior bracing of that Kevin Michael (BTW, whoever on earth is Kevin Michael?), it would appear that they have decided to drop their quest for perfection. It looks fairly crude to me.
