Default 1998 Hirade H5R Classical $1100 OBO shipped

$1100 SHIPPED/PPG OBO

Here we have a 1998 Hirade H5R Classical. This was my first serious classical and it's a great guitar. This was from a limited edition of H5Rs that has the laser-cut rose-themed rosette. It's really stunning and truly a work of art. This was a limited edition; I can't remember how many were made but I believe it was somewhere between 500 and 2000 (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

The guitar sounds great. The cedar has really opened up and is quite expressive. It has good dynamics and plenty of headroom. The trebles pop pretty well while retaining a rounded quality about them. The bass is full without being muddy. I don't know that I'd put the volume up there with a concert-level guitar, but it's quite full and loud for a small venue. Perhaps a more skilled player could coax more out of the guitar than I am able to!

The guitar is currently strung with D'Addario EJ46 strings has a low, buzz-free action suitable for a wide variety of styles. The frets have plenty of life in them with no obvious pitting.

The guitar is well-played and has typical signs of use for a 15 year old guitar. Nothing too crazy, though. Just some impressions in the finish here and there. The guitar is structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs.

Top: Solid Cedar
Back/Sides: Solid Rosewood
Neck: Mahogany (African or Honduran; can't tell)
Fingerboard: Rosewood
