split this forum?
I don't know, but I wonder if this forum shouldn't actually be divided into two different subjects...one for classical style and one for those who play folk, pop, bossa nova style. Even though, both love the sound and feel of the nylon strings. jb

I hear what you are saying, but at the current rate of posts, I'd think a single forum is fine for now.

Well then are we going to split the general into Bluegrass, folk, fingerstyle, strummers, those with and without thumbpicks etc. as well? I think that even having a nylon section is a great thing. With the limited posts here, it's not hard for me to discern which threads I’m going to be following. |

If someone needs to go strictly classical then they'll probably head over to delcamp.us.

I don't think a "split" is necessary, however, I would like to hear a LOT more from classical players and their instruments. I get the impression here, that most of the nylon players are converted steel-string players. The cross-over models seem disproportionately popular here.

Crossover!?!
I was a steel string only player, i didnt even consider a nylon string to be a "real" guitar then i severed my left index finger and took a sabbatical. Somehow i got a Yamaha c40m when i recovered some years later and thats when i decided to get a "REAL" guitar and i haven't looked back. I have never come across a crossover though and am not really sure what it is, for me it would be a Yamaha c40m i suppose.

There's barely enough "Nylon String" postings in total to justify this one sub-forum. The occasional classical guitar discussion is a very tiny subset of that, I'd say 10% at most.
AGF just isn't a place with a critical mass of actual classical guitar players to support a "Classical Guitar" sub-sub-forum.
