Aston starlight small diaphragm condensor
This is a great microphone for recording acoustic guitar.
Has a switch to allow three different settings. One setting tries to get you close to the KM84 sound, the modern setting gets you close to the KM 184 sound,And then there's a hybrid mode that kind of gives you the best of both worlds. also has a pad switch for minus 20 and minus 10 dB, And also has a base roll off. And one of the cool features on it that I thought was gimmicky at first was a laser that assist you with aiming the microphone and precise locations..at first I thought this was ridiculous but once I started using it and realizing how far off I was when trying to point the mic at the 12th fret area of my guitar, this thing really came in handy. I purchased this for a recording project I was working on, And I don't really need it anymore. I would keep it but I went on a pretty big guitar buying spree lately and need to recoup some funds. $325 out the door for AGf. |

Really like this mic. Had awesome results recording with a pair of these. For lack of a better way of saying it, they have a very “real” sound. Not colored, not bland, just a real interpretation of the instrument. And you’re exactly right- you get a KM184 and an SM81 all in one mic. Best with the sale!

You're absolutely correct. They provide a verly clear interpretation of what you put in front of it.
Ill put up some samples recorded with this mic later. |
