Hey Steve ... that oval on the back of the peghead is my logo (heat-branded into the wood). The peghead will have a matching cast metal logo "badge" on the front of the peghead.

I am totally confused about your last photo, Mr. Wren.
None of the guitar building books I have(Willis, Cumpiano, Benedetto) indicate planing a fingerboard after gluing it onto the guitar. I know you are their equal when it comes to skill, I’m definitely NOT saying you’re crazy!🤔 So ......what are you doing here? By the way, this is another beautiful guitar! Ian

David will surely answer, but for what it is worth, a number of top-tier builders prefer to do it post-installation. For example, Bruce Sexauer does it this way as well...

I guess the short answer to your question is ... I've been gluing my necks on the box with a flat fingerboard, then crowning and contouring the fingerboard at that point, for forty-three years. It seems to work fine and consistently gives me the results I want. I'm sure other builders get equally good results with quite different methodology. If there's one thing I've learned with guitar building ... there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Hey Robert ... it's good to know at least one other builder does it too ... HA!

I should start having some finished pics tomorrow or the next day ... and then an audio file at the end.
