Congratulations, Janine! I have a 000-18 Authentic that is my #1 instrument. After trying many string brands I found that mine loves the Santa Cruz Parabolic Mediums. A little pricy, but they last a long time and the tone!!

Congratulations on a terrific guitar. I had one for a while and loved it. Of all of the guitars I've sold over the years, that was the one that made me sad. I had it and a 00-18 at the time and I felt it was too extravagant, at least for me, to have both. I chose the 00-18 for purely fingerpicking but I miss the 000-18.

I had the 000-18 twice and always loved it. I once played the 1st 000-18 I had with a friend who had a guitar made by a well know luthier that costs 5x more. That 000-18 simply blown away! Honestly, in my learning curve for THE ONE I put the 000-18 only after the guitar I'm currently have and above Taylor, Collings, Bourgeois, Lowden, McIlroy.

Congrats on your 000-18 Janine! I've got a 000-18 (2019) that I love. It still smells great too!

The journey of 6,006 guitar strings!
Isn't the color a clue? Seems that the PB's are sort of subdued orange and the 80/20's a yellow-gold.

If memory doesn’t fail me, Martin ships 18s with Phosphor Bronze.

In all fairness, I did a SNGD (Stealth New Guitar Day) over in "Play and Write," but it got sniffed out, so I posted the details here. I did not follow the usual NGD protocol, but the mods let me slide just this one time because I'm a noob. For future NGDs, and hopefully there will be many, I will announce it properly.

Here was the "official" post:

If I were forced to own only a single guitar, it would be the 000-18.

I feel like the Martin 18 series is just the "essence of guitar." It's been distilled down the most important features with no frippery. It's all "substance," which of course is why it has so much style. It's completely understated, timeless and enduring, like Christian Dior.

Well said, especially the part about no frippery.
