I have my X20 with me, but I don't see this guitar being able to do as well with nylon strings as my Lucky. I could bee wrong, but I'm not there yet. Not to mention that I just put some new strings on the X20 too. I like nylon. I have a baritone uke and several smaller cousins waiting for me at home. Plus I got to play a classical guitar for a while last week too. A certain X10 savant has been taunting me with the idea of going classical for a while, so we'll see what happens here. I am quite excited for the outcome of the proposed X7 that started this thread.

If I had any idea of the winning lotto numbers, you would be reading about me somewhere besides this sub-forum. That would be the true definition of... a fortune teller. (rimshot) |

I could tell you, but by Vegas rules I would then have to have you eliminated.

The nylon Savoy has become my all-time favorite nylon guitar, and there have been many including the Emerald X10N and the Rainsong NP12. Both of those are great guitars, but my preference is with the "nylon" Savoy for a variety of reasons; tone and playability at the top of the list (volume is the about the same as the X10N). And the tuners work!... The problem with the X10N I have mentioned in other threads has to do with the tuners. The knob on the low E string started spinning making the guitar somewhat useless. No response from Emerald when I asked them about it. Eventually, I fixed it with some super glue, but it's still a little loose and I expect the other tuners to also fail. They do look nice, but they have always "creaked" and felt a bit "cheesy," especially compared to the Gotoh 510s on the Savoy, which work fine and precise with the nylon strings. I actually suspect the entire Emerald incident is part of a conspiracy to sell Irish Glue... |

I think steel is great for strumming, but nothing beats a flamenco guitar for fingerpicking stuff And so much more comfortable too!

Strumalot;
You really do change my world order with your comments regarding the Savoy. The comparisons you make are stunning. Darn you. Just about the time I settled in on my guitar selections. |
