That was cool, Glenn! A heck of a range in the vox, too.

Thank you Jeremy,

Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!

Regarding the vocal, yes, that song requires some seriously high singing. It hits a bunch of high F# notes and hits a high A note at the end. I had to practice that for a few days in a row before even trying it because singing that high, especially for me, a baritone, is very tiring. So it took some practice to work up to it.

I hope all is well for you and your family, Jeremy!

- Glenn

Good one, Glenn...loved, loved the movie and it really featured some great music.

Your singing, playing, and production is top notch as always. That is really pitched in a high register...good for you for being able to pull it off.

Where was your drummer? Was it a track you edited in?

Thanks for the hard work of putting this together. Stay well, friend.
Roger

PS. The Strat sounds fabulous.

Hi Roger!

Thanks so much! It's wonderful to hear from you!

I loved this movie, too. I have watched it so many times, it's ridiculous!!! I love the sounds, the songs, the story, the whole thing!

"All My Only Dreams" is pitched really high. When I figured out how to play this, I thought, "Well, I'll just change the key and pitch it down," because I knew it was sung ridiculously high. But when I sang it down lower, it lost a whole lot. I found that it needed the high singing to bring across that plaintive sound -- you know, I want this girl, she's beyond my reach, I can only have her near me in my dreams. So I practiced it and figure out how to get there.

The drummer was an add-on to my Cubase recording program called "Easy Drummer." I built the drum track first and recorded around that, as if it were a metronome. After getting everything else recorded, I adjusted the relative levels of bass drum, hi-hat, snare drum, etc. to fit the overall mix.

I wish I could play drums, but that is not one of my talents, I'm afraid.

And thanks for your comments on the new Stratocaster. It does sound wonderful! I feel very fortunate!

Enjoy the Christmas season Roger! It's wonderful to hear from you! Stay well!

- Glenn

Hi Started!

Thanks so much for your comments! It's very nice of you to take the time!

It's fun to find out how many people enjoyed this movie and know this song! I'm glad you feel that my cover came out okay!

And yes, it was a fun opportunity to dig into some of the electric guitars I have collected over the last 50 years. That Rickenbacker 360-12 is 30 years old. I love that guitar and its sound! The Telecaster is not all that old, but it's fun to pull it out! And I really like the new Stratocaster!

I hope all is well for you and your lovely family! Take care and be well!

- Glenn

Yeah, that high A is the absolute limit for my range before it all falls apart for me. Sometimes I can screech out a B, but I usually have to mask it with a harmony to make it sound decent.

Hi Sal,

Thanks for watching!

If you have not seen the movie, "That Thing You Do," you might give it a try. It's a fun movie and has a lot for people like you and I who make music on the guitar. And it's the kind of movie you could watch with your grandchildren.

Thanks for taking time to comment, Sal! I hope all is well for you!

Here is the original version of this song from YouTube:

Hey Glenn. Fantastic!! Great to see your electric collection! The one electric guitar I keep out is my Strat - mine is white (well, now yellowish) with a maple board, just like Hendrix's

Loved the vocals, the playing and the production. Super fun, I'll watch it some more. Take care Glenn, hope you and your family are well!

Thank you Larry!

I appreciate your watching! And it's great to know that you also own a Strat! Great guitars!

I also have a Gibson ES-335, also a very useful electric. And I have a jazz guitar, an Eastman archtop.

My family and I are all doing great! I hope you are, too, Larry!
