Default Anyone into making music with a computer?

I'm not talking about recording a guitar. I'm talking about using a DAW and virtual instruments to record or make music. I've had a passing interest for about 10 years or so, but I just got into it more seriously. With a decent computer, the virtual instruments are surprisingly realistic nowadays... especially with a MIDI keyboard which aren't that expensive. And their are a lot of free plugins or plugins that are really cheap. I have literally 1000's of different sounds/instruments now and it's fun to fool around with.

I just kind of did this on the fly and I don't really know what I'm doing yet, but the quality of the sound is great for a computer:

Once again I just did this on the fly and didn't plan out any chord changes, so it's a little choppy. I also don't really play piano... only guitar.

Nice... I composed a few piano pieces on Cakewalk about 15 years ago that I had in my head. I didn't use a keyboard; I input each note one by one as I heard it in my head, which as you can imagine takes a LONG time. I'll load some up on SoundCloud and post them here...

Nice guys , It is interesting how vast a universe midi and Virtual Instruments can be.
Yes I have been dabbling ever since I took an elective course in "Making Beats in Reason" as part of my online Masters Certificate in Pro Tools I took at Berklee College Of Music 6 years ago

Here are a couple of short compositions, and I do use a midi keyboard an Akai MPK 249

This one done in ProTools using the bundled VI's and Sampler

And this one done in Studio One (during a trial period) with bundled VI's

Pretty cool stuff there Kev. I don't have the original mixes for my stuff, just the .wrk files from Cakewalk.. I ended up exporting the MIDI data and used an online converter to make the WAV files. I had originally mastered this using instruments from NI KONTAKT with plug in effects, and it sound a lot better than this generic MIDI. Have to figure out how to reconfigure Cakewalk...

Cool. Sounds good. I'm just learning now, but I really like fooling around with sounds.

I use Fruity Loops, by the way. It's not that expensive.

Did you guys know though that Sonar is now free though?

This is a song I wrote and arranged a few years ago using a midi keyboard. Lead vocal is the only analog component.

No have to check that. I have 8.5, which is probably why I'm having issues with Win10

I did this about twenty years ago on some computer program, can't recall the name. I had to write a few pieces for a theatrical production and it was a matter of pointing and clicking notes on to staves and assigning each line the voice of an instrument. It was tedious but it was fun. The computer is long gone and I should have saved the recordings, but I didn't. Oh well.

Hit download and follow the steps if you want it. If you check all the add-ons, it's about 4 GB:
