I'll say the White Album. You can hear them disintegrating and yet it's still all great. I'm guessing I'll be the only person here who'll cop to enjoying Revolution 9.

I'll also guess nobody will pick Magical Mystery Tour or Yellow Submarine.

Can we also name our favorite Beatle-influenced albums? If so, I'd have to say the Apple Venus albums by XTC, and Hope by Klaatu. If you've never heard Hope, check out the opening track here and tell me if it doesn't sound like it could have been a cut from Sgt. Pepper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5grhuvcSes

Too hard. The White album probably. Much versatility.

Hard to name one album because my favorite depends on what mood I'm in or what's going on in my own life at the time. BUT, between Dec., 1965 and August, 1966 (only 8 months!!)they released Rubber Soul, Yesterday and Today, and Revolver in succession. It strikes me as such an obvious collective "turning point" into their maturity (followed immediately by Sgt Pepper). Those three albums collectively have always grabbed my attention and analysis. I'll sneak in though that the second side of Abbey Road is one of the greatest achievements in Pop/Rock-n-Roll IMO. So hard to pick. Sorry can't be any more specific.

2,000 posts and 20 years ago yep.

But as I became more acoustic - and in a duo - I came to realize there is no better acoustic trio of Beatles love songs than
- If I Fell
- Things We Said Today
- I’ll Be Back

And I am the Walrus is on Magical Mystery Tour... which is fine but nobody’s fave.

I can't. It's just not possible. They evolved so much in the short time they were together that each 'period' of their music offers something special and unique...and thanks in large part to George Martin, who was really the brains behind taking clever ditties by a couple of talented buskers and turning them into what they became; a musical and cultural revolution. Of course, they never would have met Martin without "Eppy".

Nothing like The Beatles has happened before or after, nor is it ever likely to again.

Yesterday and Today is a great bunch of songs but they were all tracks that Capitol withheld from the British releases and cobbled together to make an “extra” record stateside.

Probably not their best but the White Album definitely is a departure from their pop roots, it’s their “Dark Album” in my opinion, sold huge in America, not popular at home, representative of a radical cultural shift, loss of innocence. I grew up with it, had to eventually acquire it again on vinyl, the mono version has some minor & tasteful editing over the stereo release.
