Build Thread Braz/Italian (Bling Warning)
Hello friends,
Im looking forward to this one! It will be one of my CX models with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with an Italian "Moon Spruce" top. If you like bling then welcome to the thread! If not, well you might be by the end of this thread. Im looking forward to hanging out as this guitar slowly comes together...and it will be slow. Heres a few pics to start... |

Wow
That's really dark nice looking deep BRW & with Moon Spruce...Can't wait to hear it when it's finished!
I really think the vertical grain is best for the stability & sound but of course it needs to be treated right. Really like the darkness of that set. I hardly even look at mine or have a photo of it. I guess I should take one.

It seems like bling gets a bad rap these days. It’s going to look great against that dark rosewood! Great idea on the back strip, it really gives it a three dimensional appearance.

I really appreciate the comments! I get so busy at the bench that I forget to check in and reply. I'm a mad scientist indeed! Well....actually a mad artist

Love the rosette Tony! A Vines guitar should have vines on it the pearl vine with the abalone center on the flower is a nice touch.

Wow, that is such cool work that way you made the vine weave through the rosette and the carving is out of this world.
I have me fingers crossed that this is a spec guitar heading to B.I.G. V!!!!

really pretty work Tony. I do have a question. How will the carved back strip impact the finish. Will you attempt to fill the cavities with transparent filler of some kind like perhaps epoxy and then have a flat surface or will the finish follow the contours of the carving?

Here's a pic of the inside of the back. The center wedge is concave to remove excess weight.
