Default Has anyone come across nut fangs before?

I guess if you've run out of adhesive you can always call in the heavy machinery. I vaguely remember seeing one of these in my distant past. Anyone else?

They sure look like fangs to me.

That looks like a string spacer, rather than an nut? The sort of thing you may get behind a zero fret. Perhaps this nailed version was off an old "catalogue" cheap guitar of some kind.

I’ve never seen that before, but as I think about it, I think I might prefer something like locating pins that would make the bridge easier to remove and replace rather than glue.

Robin had the correct backstory. This nut served as a string spacer on a zero fret guitar made in Holland during the 1960s. Having experienced the quality of budget acoustics made in Holland during this period, I'm convinced that the fang-tooth nut might have been the guitar's sturdiest feature.
