Default Side Crack Repair Help

The actual repair of the crack is fine, very tight, level and smooth, but the cosmetics could use some help. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Bill

Hi Steve, I hope this helps. I think that part of the problem is that the crack had been open for some time and perhaps oxidation had a chance to form causing the discoloration.
Thanks, Bill

Actually not a bad one to do at all, it will however require sanding back to bare wood between the front and rear bouts to become an invisible repair

Sand it to bare, steam the crack clean, glue the crack with hide glue, run a few cleats on the inside to re inforce the crack line and then shellac and some coats of colour to refinish
Steve

Thanks Steve,
I'll give that a try. I have already glued it with HHG and cleated it. I have some scrap I can experiment on to try to get a reasonable color match. Hopefully I can get pretty close.
