Default Shooting for a Jason Isbell Electric Sound

This tune started out as a bro-country song about daisy dukes and drinking beer and driving a Ford truck down by the river under the stars, but we liked the chorus and so it became something else.

The guitar is a Gretsch Electromatic into a mid-60s Silvertone. Still not super-happy with the tone—so I commissioned a hand-wired Princeton for when I need tracks like this—it should be ready soon.

Rockin! The electric track kind of has that Neil Young point of exploding kind of sound to it.

I hadn't thought about that, but Young's sound is a HUGE influence on me.

I really like the song. Well done. As I was listening, you almost lost me with the first line-the words didn't flow much the last few of them. Small thing but still.
The rest of it flowed very well. If it were mine, I'd tweak a few words here and there, but not much. The wordplay is good, and you certainly have good phrasing (like Jason) and your voice and pitch were good. Again, you sound enough like him to pull this off. The ending is way too long for me. The drums are there at least four bars to many. But I get your intention, and I think with some tweaking it could work.
I understand you didn't really ask for opinions, and even if you had I more than likely wouldn't have given it. I really like this song. I think you've got something very good. And very close to a polished finish. In the best sense of the term.
Good luck with it.

Mark

Cool song. I'm not an expert by any means, but the production sounds top notch.

Great song. I like the lyrics and the muddy guitar.
