I though the tune was so tastefully done. Just a perfect pairing with that guitar. Seriously great playing. Are you in the Bay Area? I ask because Alan is in West SF. If so, we should get together post-Covid.

That is beautiful and makes me want to add it to my list of someday guitars to own.
I enjoyed your sample. If you want better recording quality without much investment, check out the Zoom iQ6. It’s quite an impressive sound for $100. With your playing and that beautiful guitar, it’s a worthy investment.

Until recently I was living in the East Bay (Berkeley), which is how I discovered Alan's guitars. I recently moved to Maryland, but I'd love to get together at some point when I'm visiting the Bay Area again.

Alan is the best at repair in SF. When I picked up my Merrill OM 28 which needed a top seam repair and new bridge slot he opened up a case and handed me Bob Weir's 1930 OM 45.
He repaired a friend's Somogyi Modified D for $350 after Ervin quoted $1,000.

Big fan of Stevie's. His fingerstyle course on Peghead Nation is wonderful. I took the course just to learn his original arrangement 622, which he demo's with the Stahl video online.
About a year later, I bought my 00-21. The neck set had previously been performed by Alan. Of course now having been familiar with Stevie and his Stahl, I knew Alans' reputation, which sealed the deal on the 00-21 for me. Finally, just before COVID hit last year, I found myself in SF for a business trip, so I took an extra day to explore the surroundings, including MFG. Stevie was so warm and gracious. I played at least a dozen of the guitars there. The standouts to me were a braz Maingard and this (which truly had a huge tone): http://mightyfineguitars.com/inventory/delapp-om-28

I think last week marked 1 year with this guitar and I'm still so happy with it. It puts a smile on my face every time I pick it up.
I recently got a decent microphone, so here are a couple of videos with better sound quality. One playing fingerstyle and one with a flat-pick. |

I'm the lucky owner of an Alan Perlman Stahl Style 6 tribute. Astonishing guitar! Alan is both a top-shelf builder and a top-shelf repairman. Totally cool guy, too.

I couldn't agree more! I actually found out about Alan and his guitars after visiting your shop a few years back. I owe you a big thank you!

It's difficult to forgive someone who can cover both Julian Lage and Robert Bowlin.
Beautifully played on a lovely guitar. Thanks for sharing with us.
