Default Bracing For Sinker Redwood

I'm starting to build a Rosewood OM w/ a cutaway & planning on using Sinker Redwood for the top. Since I've never used or even played a guitar w/ this kind of top...it will be a new venture for me.

What I'm not sure of is: What wood to use for the bracing of this top. Along w/ the top, the vendor also sent me a few strips of Redwood for bracing. I have Adirondack & Mahogany bracing wood on hand. My rationale seems to be weighing on the side of redwood...just not sure? Suggestions sought...

Redwood is pretty brittle and could crack if the top is bumped once assembled. I would go with the spruce. My 2 cents.

as Tony says re Redwood which is in many ways is like Cedar. I have a twenty five year old Lowden, which are known for their open and resonant sound, it is Cedar topped with Spruce braces. I'd go with the Adirondack you have.

A good option might be to use the spruce for the X brace, transverse brace, and around the sound hole. Use the Redwood for the finger braces and tone bars. That's a good way to use each for what they are best for

I would use adi bracing. That is what was used on mine and I love it!

I've got a Sinker top on my BTO and it was built with Adi braces. If it's good enough for Taylor...(grin)

I think that's the way to go.

I don't think the redwood will have the stiffness you need, and the mahogany will have too much weight. If you have Adi brace stock already on hand, go with that. I think Mark's idea of using redwood for less structural bracing will work.
