Question JBL Eon One MK2 Or Electro-Voice EVOLVE 30M?

I am considering one of these units, and would like to know if anyone has experience with both.

I owned a 30M a while ago and it sounded good, but I was not a big fan of the effects.

I like the idea of the battery power on the MK2, and the idea of using it in the shorter mode (something you can not do with the 30M).

Also, the MK2 has lexicon effects. Are lexicon effects good?

Any input would be helpful

EV hands down. The JBLs have design issues that take them out of the running for me.

Indeed no battery with the 30m, but re shorter mode, do you mean being able to reduce the height of the column supporting the drivers?

Evolve makes a short column advertised for the 50/50m, and though for some reason the ads don't mention the 30m, I've seen multiple users say it fits the 30m as well.

Maybe I'll ask my Sweetwater rep to verify.

The short poles work fine with either the 30M or 50M.

The 30M works fine for several hours with a 300 watt portable battery pack. I use a GrantMaya Portable Power Station. It is smaller than a rolled up extension cord.

Thanks for the posts.

I got the Evolve 30M. They went up to $1,399.00, but since the sign on the display one still said $1,299.00 he let me have one for that price plus 10% off because I traded used gear as part of the deal, so I got it for $1,169.00, plus the $350.00 for the used gear I traded brought it down to $819.00.

I hooked it up and did a short test track (just noodling). I ran a Taylor 814ce through my LR Baggs venue DI into channel 1 and set the preset for channel 1 to acoustic guitar, and set FX1 (Echo+Reverb) and FX2 (Chorus) to -20. Left the EQ flat on everything. I ran the AUX out into my Focusrite 18i8.

I don't really have a need for battery power anyway, and I can always pick up the short column that was posted.

Thanks again,

EV30 has better bass because of the wooden enclosure.
JBL MK2 has issues with clipping early - EV30 is louder.
EV30 has a better App
MK2 has internal battery and all pieces fit and lock into the base unit.
EV has cleaner highs
JBL smoother mids similar to Bose sound.
