It's actually the guitar I was going to buy back in March (or the J-35)... long story, but I bought something else back then and have long since sold it.
Good stuff, let us know how it plays when you get it!

Good for you! I did the same thing a few weeks ago. Snagged a 2018 J-15 Walnut Burst Limited Edition on Reverb for a crazy low price. LOVE this guitar. The full dread sound with the full dread body. You’re gonna love it.

Can't believe it's only two months since starting this thread - seems like a lifetime... well, you know what I mean.

Since passing on the G45 for a J15 I sold the J15 to buy a Telecaster, then sold the Tele to buy a Strat... then sold the Strat to go back to an acoustic. All those cables, effects and amplification... meh.

Having been afflicted with this madness, I hope I'm cured and this time I promise myself (and my wife) that I'll stick with acoustic. So much nicer to play (fingerstyle), and I was recently in Ireland, unexpectedly, for two weeks, without a guitar and yearned for an acoustic.

As always, when faced with that first world problem of 'which guitar', I've been looking at a Taylor 214ce and a Martin D10e, but I'm glad I just re-read my own post to remind me of my impressions of the G45.

Serendipity perhaps, but the price of the Standard has come down by around £300.00 here in the UK, if you shop around, so I might go for that, as I remember (and wrote) that it had a fuller sound than the Studio - with only differences being the Richlite fingerboard and gloss top, I'm not sure why, but I also hear it in the various You Tube's.

Anyway, this post is sort of a confessional (to myself, if nobody else), but I'll let you guys know if I get another Gibson.

Has anyone else bought one recently?

I haven't played a G45. Generally speaking I don't like the sound of Gibson acoustics, but I did watch some videos on YouTube of a G45 studio and I must say that it did sound good.

I will echo the words of another poster here and say I believe that Gibson is doing some of the best work out there with walnut. I haven't played one of their walnut guitars I didn't at least like, and a couple I have loved. I haven't played the G45 -- between the Fishman Sonitone pickup (which I absolutely hate), and the thinner body depth, I just wasn't interested in this option.

But I'm looking for a walnut L-00 right now and not finding the deal I want, so I may come around to considering the G45. Slowhand, I hope you'll report back on the one you get.
