The whole idea behind the EV is it's an all in one solution. You don't need pedals since it has built in effects. The CP8 is just a speaker. If you need to used pedals than the CP8 might be a better choice. Personally, I love having the option to do either. There are some gigs where I want to go simple and there are some I want to use all my pedals and extras.

Now that it's for sale the videos are blooming. This one has an excellent dive into the app menu--far more useful than what I saw for my 30m! That section starts around 2:51. In addition to helpful navigation tips, there's more in there than I realized.

Edit: Having seen more of these videos where actual humans are standing next to them, I'll add Aaron was right about its being less portable than the S1. Yes, not much heavier, yes, it's a grab-and-go. But noticeably wider. Recalling my own days schlepping on NYC's subways, it'd be more to handle on public transport.
