Video slow motion solution
Short answer:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html Longer answer: Was trying to learn the simple version of Water is Wide instrumental. The video is more accurate than tabs and notation because you can see arpeggios and note emphasis, but with drop D tuning, the notes sustain, and the playback was going too fast to catch every motion and string. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj_Tc5kVv_Y VLC was my solution. Adjustable slow playback without altering pitch. Works great. This was after using the arrow keys on QuickTime and finding it too slow. VLC is perfect. Half way through the song now. Mysteries simplified. For anyone who learns from video, this is the answer. Works with downloaded video on your hard drive as well as playing DVDs.

I've got VLC on my Linux Mint computer. How do you slow down videos?

You can also use Windows Media Player to slow videos down while keeping the songs pitch/tuning.

Vic is a great prog. However, I suggest looking into a prog for Windows or Mac- Transcribe! It does just that only better.

Playback menu
On the Mac there is a "Playback" menu, with a drop down sub menu that includes a slider to set the playback speed.

Chrome browser will play youtubes at half-speed (and a quarter too, but then you lose the sound).
Transcribe is a lot more versatile, but you need to download/convert youtubes to MP4 (or MOV) first. But it's then easy to loop, and slow to any speed you want.
