Default Any Experiences With Skype Lessons To Share?

I'm reposted this from the General Discussion where is disappeared pretty quick last week

Hoping for anyone's experiences with Skype lessons. Was it a good experience for you? Negatives? Did you do it just once in a while, or regularly? Did you pay for one at a time, or buy a block of lessons? Care to share what you paid? Were they a half-hour long, or a full hour......?

Working towards offering Skype lessons myself next month and would be grateful for any and all insight about structuring it.

I've been teaching using Skype now for a couple of years. In my opinion as long as everyone is using fairly modern equipment and software there is no problem at all.

I live in NJ and have had students as far away as Bejing.

I've been doing Skype lessons for about two years now with a teacher in New York. I live in Australia.

It's been great. No problems as we both use fairly good gear and have good connections. About the only thing we cannot do is jam together because of the latency, but other than that, it has been fantastic.

I only wish there were better apps for recording the sessions. Some sessions are just pure gold that it would be good to go back and watch them again for tips and tricks.

Also, because of the time difference, we do lessons which are Friday evening for him, and early (7am) Saturday mornings for me, so if I've had a heavy Friday night I am usually struggling to remember everything on Sat morning...

I've only taken 2 video lessons, but I was disappointed with the video quality of Skype. My brother told me to try zoom.us and it was much better. Zoom, like Skype, is also a free download.

I've been giving Skype lessons for about a year now. As long as you make sure you have a good setup everything is usually fine.

I use my MacBook Pro's video camera, but hook up to AT4050s into my MIO2882 to make sure the audio is very clean & present. I don't rely on the computer mic.
