That Honduran mahogany with the bees-wing figure would be the one for me (visually), but I've been considering The Tree for over 15 years (too bad I didn't act on it way back then).

Smile Beautiful mahogany...

All that beautiful Hog...

I love Mahogany guitars, and the stuff is light weight!

That big QS Tree set should become a JUMBO !!! Will the dark funky stuff on the "Honduran" disappear under your magic touch?

My vote for the swimsuit model would go to the paisley, tho...

Your wood locker must be a fun place! Imagine forgetting that MadRose!!!

Thanks for sharing.

My customer has spoken for the Paisley Honduran mahogany. That was my recommendation, though any of these would qualify a super-mahogany as they are all unusually dense and have great surface hardness compared to more typical Hmah.

There is a resin bleed in the bees wing set, and I won’t know till I’ve built with it what it’s visual impact will be. Very minor, I’d expect, as it was not obvious when I got the set.

I think I have 22 sets of regular Hmah, and another 2 sets of flamed but other wise typical Hmah. And a set of tortoise Tree similar to the one I used for the Vancouver 00.

While not actually mahogany, let alone Honduran, I also have 2 sets of Sapele which is as good as I have ever seen as it is both highly figured and quartered. This 000 guitar is made from it and is actually for sale at Luthier’s Collection in San Diego.

I am well into Tom's neck at this point, having not only made the fingerboard, but also having glued it to the neck itself. The fingerboard is Snakewood, as is its binding, and the headplates are the same as the body. In these photos it's all rough bandsawn:

Oh wow, love it Bruce....really good. The headplate is perfect, but that fingerboard, just incredible. I remember standing in front of the wood pile and you pulling out that hunk of snakewood and selecting it for the fretboard. Great memories! That is even better than I imagined. That is really going to set this guitar off (as if it needed it right?)!

That is really going to be stunning!

That headplate together with that fretboard really makes it...

I used a new (to me) method of inlaying the b/w/b into the snakewood to define the fingerboard, and I am chomping at the bit to find out how my attempted miters came out. That doesn't happen till the finish is cured, so probably after I return from the Cremona event.

I have assembled the Black Limba JB-15, and fretted it. Probably be able to show completion pictures within the week.

Love that snakewood fretboard! Tom's guitar is going to be so stunning - I hope I get a chance to see it one of these days.

My Paisley customer has switched his preference to the quartersawn Tree set. It is hard to argue with the combined results of my all-Tree tenor Uke followed by the Tree 00 more recently completed. I continue to find the 00’s tone awe inspiring. Since I still own it following VIGF, I am thinking of taking to to Italy next month instead of the Black Limba guitar. Of course I Have not strung the Limba yet, so the decision would be premature at this point.

Both headplate and fretboard look scrumptious. Love the look of the Snakewood. Almost leopard like.

I like it more than I thought I even would. To me it gives it a real antique, vintage look that's just so different.

Killer guitar Tom. If you find out that you don’t not have enough room in your new guitar cabinet for this one, let me know and I’ll send you a mailing label!

That is so true! I started making a list of those I could never sell. Ended up with the whole collection on the list. What is a guitar lover to do?
