Nice guitar.
The best of looks and sound.
It fits your voice very well.

Love my D-35 but will never be able to justify a D-45.

Nicely done. Excuse me if you have already covered it but, you might enjoy playing "Helplessly Hopeing".

Glenn,

How may I add to the accolades here? That guitar sounds perfect, it has everything that Martin exudes and your touch brings it all out bro! Congrats, I don't know how you can go back and play any other guitar, tho your D-35 is special.
You have this song down dude and your voice reaches into that era and vibe and brings it all out too...this is one of the best sounding videos, I can only imagine how it sounds sitting in the same room with you bro.

Very well done 5 stars & a

eric

Hi L20A,

Thank you very much for your comments! It does seem to suit my voice or else my voice is responding to match the power of this guitar! Either way, I must say, I felt very good on this video, getting it on the first take. That is rare for me.

I have been happy for 51 years with my D-35 (and still am). The D-35 is a great guitar and would have worked well on this song, too. In fact, I learned this song on my D-35.

I'm not sure I could justify buying the D-45, either. But I did it anyway, just to have the experience, and I'm glad I did. It feels different from the D-35. A little stiffer, a little more solid, because the scalloped 5/16" bracing, I believe, is still stiffer than the 1/4" bracing in the D-35. Also, my D-35 has been around for more than 5 decades so it's pretty loose feeling, well broken in. While that feels so very comfortable, it's also nice playing something that feels super solid, like this D-45.

Thanks so much for your comments!

- Glenn

Hi Jack,

Thanks so much for your comments!

I have played "Helplessly Hoping" in the past for a group of high school girls who sang the song in 3-part harmony. I know the guitar part very well.

I should try it, but I think I would really have to sing the harmony parts, too. But, wow, Graham Nash really gets up there in the high harmony on this one. But I could give it a try and see how it comes out.

Thanks for the suggestion!

- Glenn

Thanks so very much Eric for the wonderful compliments! You have really made my day!

Regarding the recording and being in the room, the mics I have do a really good job of capturing the room sound. To me, the recording sounds a lot like being in the room, although I guess in a stereo recording, you never get the 3-dimensional sense of hearing something live in a real space. So, yes, I do know what you mean.

I bet you and I could have a blast playing and singing together! Thanks so much for commenting here!

Thank you Jake!

Thanks for checking in, for listening, and for commenting here! Yes, the D-45 really has a glorious sound when you really hit it hard!

It is easy to play and the lyrics are timeless....

“Young people speakin’ their minds,
gettin’ sooo much resistance from behind.
It’s time we stop children what’s that sound,
everybody look what’s goin’ down.”

I also listened to your version of Still’s haunting 4&20. Very moving and disturbing at the same time.

Hi Indy,

Thanks for posting here! I will put "For What It's Worth" on my list of songs to do right now! Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for listening here!

And yes, "4 + 20" is disturbing, especially the ending. I'm glad that Stephen Stills is still with us.
