Midway remake being filmed in Hawaii
Huge fan of the original, I hope this remake is good and not the disaster Pearl Harbor was. Cool thing is I’ll get to see cool WWII replicas flying around.

Thanks for the heads up.
With all due respect to the men and women who sacrificed their lives, I'm a bit of a WW2 film buff though especially in the European theater. |

Apparently is a 100M budget starring Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore.

I'll probably not bother as I rarely enjoy highly-commercial big budget Hollywood fare with their big profit-generating box office Hollywood "stars". Big stars usually dumb things down to a lowest common denominator. I've noticed that I prefer to reside in the numerator. |

The film was rather a let-down, lots of stars, but man is it way too long and uneven. That said, seems ripe for a remake and I really hope it's good, and better than the smaltz of "Pearl Harbor". Woody is usually great. Hope it's good! |

Hopefully, Hollywood can refrain from making it a love story with a lot of big gray Navy stuff in the background; Titanic in gray.
Nimitz called Midway "A glorious page in our history." Historian Gordon Prange referred to the "miracle at Midway." When informed of the plight of Torpedo Squadron 8, Churchill wept. Having read Little Ship, Big War by Edward P. Stafford, I always take a moment on June 4th to remember Ensign William Warner Abercrombie. Bob

Another point showing Hollywood has run out of ideas. More and more remakes, even on the small screen. Now I see they have remade Magnum PI, along with Murphy Brown too.
Both of these were very good shows in their day, but not sure if I want to see them again. |

Well, I certainly hope it's better than the original movie.

I know the original was very long and I haven’t seen it in years, but it’s one of my favorite WWII movies. |
