Default Razo GA #20 Madagascar RW / German Spruce

Hi All,

Well at long last my Razo#20 is on its way to being completed! It is Jonathan's GA Model and I chose a beautiful nicely quartered grain Madagascar Back and sides set he had and paired it with a gorgeous German Top.

I asked Jonathan for a side sound port and his Arm bezel as well as a Florentine cutaway with a 25.5" scale. Other than my requested specs I let Jonathan have free rain with most of the design aspects with a focus on Sound, play ability and comfort.

So enjoy the build so far I know I am! Here are some pics.

Default Welcome to the family!

Congrats on your soon to be joining of the Razo family, Rixter!

Looks like another visual masterpiece from Jonathan.

You're in for a sonic treat--I look forward to hearing all about it once you've had a chance to put #20 through the paces.

Welcome, and once again, congrats!

You certainly did. The choice of wood and inlay really do go together beautifully on this guitar.

The choice of German Spruce and Madagascar RW for your Razo GA is one I know you will be happy with (speaking from experience)

Looking great so far! Will be watching for more progress reports.

That is a nice looking guitar! That IS some amazing Madi! Certainly stuff like that is rare. What is the rosette made of? It is interesting material, but can't say that I recognize what it is. Thx!

I like that wood combination. I have not had a chance to play one of Jonathan's guitars so I look forward to a report when this one is completed. I have always liked his sense of aesthetics and attention to detail.

Best,
Jayne

As per Jonathan directly about the Rosette and End Graft, "The material I used is actually a Maple Burl dyed slate blue to contrast the brown of the Madagascar and the creamy top!"

Hi All,

Here is an update on my Build. Jonathan has shaped (to my specs) and assembled the neck to the body he also bound the neck and added a Madrose Overlay to the front of the Headstock and ebony overlay to to the back.

For the headstock, Jonathan decided to add a touch of the slate color and opted for a Madrose Headstock overlay so that the dyed burl could really pop, add that to the ebony binding and maple purfling on both the headstock and fingerboard and it all blends together with the body. Also, the neck is a 5 piece laminate with thin Wenge and a flamed maple laminate.

This build is greatly exceeding my expectations! The next step is off to the spray booth.

Here are some pics!
