I’ve had several. Ended up selling ‘em all. My style changed, my skill level progressed, new guitar models came out, etc, etc. Never say never...

I can’t believe you got rid of your D41! They’re SPECIAL guitars and I’ll never part with mine!

I think that's my Taylor 717. I've had a lot of "better" or more expensive guitars come and go, but for what I have into that thing, it hangs with the best and is consistently amongst my favorite sounding and playing guitars. It's just so versatile and comfortable to play that I just don't think I could justify getting rid of it - to me, it's just not worth selling.

I have two that will stay until my end.
Larrivee L-10 and L-03 Custom shop Flamed Maple Deluxe, both very comfortable to play and sound great.

I cannot imagine selling my 15+ year old Wingert E 12 fret. Fits me like a glove and sounds divine. My one-year old Kramer Prairie Grass is sticking around as well.

No special story other than these are my two custom built for me guitars so pretty hard not to go the distance with them.
Best,
Jayne

My Guild GAD F-20. I spent a long time looking for a small guitar that played well and had a good sound. I bought this one on a blowout for $550 shipped about 10 years ago. At the time it was the most I had spent on a guitar. There isn't a guitar that I've played under $3000 that could replace this one for me. Everyone that plays it loves it. I've been trying for a long time to find a second one to gift my dad but I haven't found one yet.

I wouldn't sell any of them. I sold a 1962 Fender Jazzmaster years ago and a 1970 Guild Dreadnaught for next to nothing...never again. For me selling one of my guitars would be like selling my dog.

My 000-18. It’s a pretty basic guitar as far as aesthetics but finally, I found a guitar that is “just right” for me.

It would be a tough choice;

With these two Martin J bodies, rosewood on the right mahogany on the left, whichever one I'm playing is my favorite. The J-40 is probably the better guitar but the J-17 is the only one ever made and although they sound very different they both sound amazing.

And when I bought the J-40, Maury said to me ''I better not hear about you selling the J-17''!

I'd have to sell something else and keep both of them!

It was my lucky day when I wandered into a shop and spotted a recent trade-in hanging on the wall. This was 20 years ago.

It was an '81 Guild D-46. Turned out to be the perfect guitar for me. Many others have come and gone, but this one I'll never sell.

I rarely sell, but rarely is not "never". Though I am not looking, if I found something I just had to have, I would find a way to justify selling something. It would be a hard choice but I'd be least likely to sell the Hatcher, the Franks resonator and the Appollonio 12-er, all for different reasons. Maybe tomorrow I'd give another answer.

What should have been asked was "Is there a guitar you'd never buy?" I could talk for a long while on that. Too long.

1989 Martin HD-28, original paperwork, letter from Martin CEO, sales receipt, etc........ oops, I actually traded that one for a Guild F50R and couldn’t be happier. Never got along with that particular Martin but the bluegrass player I traded with sure did!

My '69 Gibson Hummingbird. My parents bought it new as a High School graduation gift for me 51 years ago. I was playing it when I met the woman who would become my wife, and she's told me many times over the years in no uncertain terms that I cannot ever sell that guitar.
