NGD gibson j15 wb
So I finally did it.
After renting a j15 that sounded amazing but had a horrible setup, I went and rented a j45. That j45 had a fantastic setup but I much prefered the sound of the j15. Now coronavirus put a stop to in-store shopping. I made a phone call at another shop an hour form home and they had that walnut burst j15 brand new that they could rent. They arranged for me a "contact free" pickup at the store, and after a fresh set of ej16, this thing is amazing ! Best guitar I've ever played. I prefer gibson for the 12" fingerboard radius. This thing is loud and have tons of headroom. Stiffest neck I've seen too. So I bought it couldn't resist. My first quality acoustic. Question : sould it come with a pickguard ? 🤔 Thanks for watching. |

Beautiful guitar! I'm partial to guitars without pickguards, though 2 of my 3 have them. It doesn't play into whether or not I buy a guitar, I just prefer a naked guitar.

Great looking guitar! If you don't mind, where did you get it?

Looks great, congrats. If you don't use a pick you shouldn't need a pickguard. If you do use a pick it might be a good idea to put one on. With that great burst I would put on a clear one.
When I bought my J-45 I took the pick guard off almost immediately.

With or without a pickguard, it's a beautiful guitar. Congratulations!

Gorgeous! I also like the Gibson neck. I have a J-35. Played a used J-15 in a store back in early Feb that knocked my socks off. If I didn't already have the 35 I would have bought it.
Enjoy!

The J15s are great guitars. If I didn't already have two Gibsons that would probably be my next purchase. Enjoy.

Wow! Well done and major congrats! Gorgeous burst and ya gotta love an abalone rosette! Years ago I always thought a J45 would be my ultimate, but after I played a J15 at a GC, it sounded great and I figured I'd prefer one of those, so told Music Villa in Bozeman to put me on the list for a burst, which were fairly rare in those days. As fate would have it, a burst New Hartford-built jumbo Guild F50R came up on reverb, my offer was surprisingly accepted (for about the same price as a new J15), and I haven't looked back, but I've still got a hearty appreciation for a nice burst J15, you lucky man!

Your post is not clear if you are renting it or if your rented it initially and then purchased it.
If you are renting it you may be restricted from making modifications like adding a pick guard. If you own it, then I would second the suggestion that if you play with a pick normally, you might consider adding a guard. I have a J-15 in natural and love it. Enjoy!

What a beautiful burst, and back too! Wow. I recommend getting a clear pickguard if you think you need one. It would be a shame to cover up that top with an opaque pickguard. With the clear no one would even see it.
BTW ... Welcome to the AGF! I see this is your 2nd post. |
