Ok so the cask oak is basically ornamental. Still leaves the question about the bog oak as a unique tone wood. Can't even imagine what it would sound like or the challenges of working it.

One small gripe directed at the bushmill marketing team. Use acoustic music in a video promoting an acoustic. Who on the team didn't catch this or ever bring it up?

So you would "want one" without hearing, touching, playing one? I've played some nice Lowdens but would never consider buying a brand new - zero history model - anything. When you grab yours, pease post an extensive review herein.

It's an ordinary lowden with back and sides in oak and with some cosmetic embellishments harvested from used whiskey casks.

Sounds about right to me, just marketing hype for the collectors out there.

Lowden doesn't use it as tonewood on these guitars.

People have used oak in recent years, for at least backs and sides, and the results aren't bad.

Sorry, don't mean to be rude. But c'mon man, a whiskey themed Lowden!

There was a really nice acoustic in the Custom Shop forum with quartered oak back/sides. I was unable to locate the exact thread.

I'm afraid it's still marketing hype, inlays of whisky barrels add nothing to its value as a musical instrument, only to its value as a collectors piece.

Ok, some feel it's just marketing, lets compare with a recent guitar build as a marketing comparison.

I think Lowden may have a slight edge in the taste dept.

Put it this way:
Inlays of whisky barrels detract nothing from its value as a musical instrument, but add to its value as a collectors piece.

Hype is probably the point. I'd consider buying it if I had the dough. I'm not even a whiskey or scotch guy.
