Down to the three in my signature, with room for a carbon fiber down the road.

We have some xtra guitars around the house that we got for the kids over the years, but I personally just have two, and they’re the same make model, so essentially a backup for travel.

For several years my limit has been six. I had a cabinet built which will only hold six in their cases, and I haven’t gone beyond that mark. Recently however, I’ve started selling my instruments, preening things down to one guitar. Still have a couple of Claxtons and perhaps a Petros to say goodbye to.

Exact same boat. I have around 10 but hardly play anymore. Selling at least a couple would make the most sense but deciding which one is the biggest challenge. They’re all different and all great to me.

I don't count, mostly because when my wife ask that question I can truthfully answer "I don't know, somewhere around 20, give or take a few" (in my head, dozen).

I have six plus one unplayable wall hanger. One of my guitars is on loan to my son semipermanently. One is a 50 year old Yamaha classical that I bought new and keep only for sentiment. A 1991 Larrivee 00 is probably my best guitar and would cost the most to replace. My Ibanez AC240 is a great, but cheap, all mahogany guitar. My new Eastman E6 OM is outstanding. My Alvarez AP70 is a very nice parlor guitar but I seldom touch it. I probably should sell or give it to a young beginner I know who is playing a Wal-Mart First Act guitar.

There is no formula. It is what you can afford and have room for. And, does a guitar provide something that the others don't that is important to you. Oh, and are your family's needs covered?
I won a Fender CD-60S Natural Mahogany dred in a raffle at a folk festival last weekend. Best $5 I ever spent. So add one to my total.

I have to finish a few, a couple have the necks off as I did some work on them but I guess around 30 acoustics, four electrics, half dozen working amps. Another dozen amp projects where I have the majority of the parts but need the time to work on them, a whole wack of speakers, tubes for a couple lifetimes.
