Default how many guitars do you have?

I think I have about 10 acoustics now. I have not even counted them all.
And my house space is running out, and seriously thinking of down sizing.

But I don't know which one to sell, because they all have different voices and play differently. I like them all.

So which ones to sell, this is most difficult question.
I have about 4-5 new guitars, and the rest are vintage from 1980s 1990s.

And how many guitars are really ideal number to keep for an amateur hobby player like me? Any thoughts?

How did you deal with this type of problems? I would like to hear.

At least six too many based on their lack of play time. I don't want to total them up, but some sales have occurred over the last couple of years.

Default Harem

I'm down to 4 now. At one point I was up to almost 20, but I was doing a lot of horse trading as a way of working up to better guitars.

I'm very happy with what I have now.

A very individual question. Ten is too many for me, but not necessarily for you.

I have six plus one unplayable wall hanger. One of my guitars is on loan to my son semipermanently. One is a 50 year old Yamaha classical that I bought new and keep only for sentiment. A 1991 Larrivee 00 is probably my best guitar and would cost the most to replace. My Ibanez AC240 is a great, but cheap, all mahogany guitar. My new Eastman E6 OM is outstanding. My Alvarez AP70 is a very nice parlor guitar but I seldom touch it. I probably should sell or give it to a young beginner I know who is playing a Wal-Mart First Act guitar.

There is no formula. It is what you can afford and have room for. And, does a guitar provide something that the others don't that is important to you. Oh, and are your family's needs covered?

Down to 5 now and would like to ideally get down to 4. But I’m not ready yet to part with the only other one I’d consider selling, so that’s it.

Seven acoustics, two electrics and four amps. Gotta count the amps.

In my mind I have room for one more acoustic, my wallet doesn't agree but a 00 in red spruce and rosewood would be nice.

I have 10, but one of them is a Jasmine dread that I bought for a penny with a 10 pack of strings. My D-55 needs a neck reset, but is still playable although I rarely do.

So my actual answer is 8 players. I'm getting another this year. I may or may not buy another at my retirement as a "gift" to myself. I planning not to, but the attractiveness of a Waterloo or another Martin may be too much to bear, lol.

I use alternative tunings often and I'm pretty sure only 2 of my guitars are in standard right now.

Plus I like guitars.
