Thanks. The J-200 is actually my wife's guitar. At the time, Gibson only built 100 or so of these a year and starting in 1960 every one was built in the newly formed Custom Shop. This one has the laminate back and sides (Gibson made their own laminate) and the second wide angle X brace above the soundhole. It is not what you would call a lightweight guitar. It is pretty hefty. Not loud but full sounding with saturated mids and a cracklin' edge to it. I think the J-200 is the best strummer on the planet.

My 2008 J-45 ... Gibson love!
I found it about a year or so ago at Guitar Center. It had just been taken in on trade the night before. Apparently it was traded it in on a Strat and amp .. The Manager chuckled to me as we were doing the transaction "I told him don't do it"! The label reads J-45 VOS and has the words True Vintage and Limited Edition on the outer portion of label. Later found it was part of a small run and perhpas one of the first True Vintage models. With Adirondack top, Honduran Mahogany back and sides, Madigascar fret board and bridge, VOS (vintage old spec) finish ... It is a very sweet guitar in every way. Sounds amazing... |

And I spy an upright bass in the back. I've always wanted one. A friend of mine has a '67 Kay. It's a pretty cool bass, and a lot of fun to play. |
