1950 Gibson J-45
Up for sale is a strong-sounding 1950 Gibson J-45. It’s got the classic sound with the benefit of a little bigger, more open-sounding bass that makes strumming and vocal accompaniment that much better.
Here’s the video demo: http://youtu.be/E_SfeI3D9II I acquired this J-45 from Carter’s Vintage Guitars here in Nashville. They gave it a clean bill of health. As you can see from the photos, the guitar has lots of nicks and dings, which I think just adds to the character! The saddle is new (and plenty tall, so if you ever need to lower the action, you can have it shaved down); the bridge has probably been reglued but looks original; the tuner buttons are new (although tuners themselves look original); the neck has probably been reset; and there are a few cracks on the top near the neck joint as well as a hairline side crack (see photos). There are several other deep scratches that look like cracks, but I don’t believe they go all the way through (if they do, though, they’ve been well-repaired). Asking $4,750 + shipping. Black hardshell case included. |

Hey Forrest....wanna bump this up to the top for you.
I also have a '50 J-45 that is loud, proud, and just incredible! Kenny Smith summed it up best when he told my buddy it's a "Beast"! This is a great deal on a scalloped braced Gibson. "Banner" sound....without the price tag! |

Thank you Oliver, I appreciate it!! And I totally agree about the sound, some of my absolute favorite J-45s are from the late '40s and early '50s.
