Play Acoustic portability?
Right now I have a Loudbox Mini Charge, a Mic Mechanic 2, and a K&K preamp. All of these run off of batteries, making for a very portable setup. I would like to use a Play Acoustic to add harmonies and maybe do away with the other pedal and preamp. My concern is that the Play Acoustic has no battery option.
I guess my question is whether there is a way to use the Play Acoustic with a battery pack? Also, aside from harmonies, would I gain much over my Mic Mechanic 2 and K&K preamp?

Do you have a Volto? If not, that would solve the problem.

It looks like those are no longer being made.

I went with the Boss VE-8 for just that reason - it takes batteries. I also like that it has more buttons and less menu driven options, although there is still a lot of programming power 'under the hood', so to say.
Unless you're already using the Play Acoustic and bonded with it, give the VE-8 a look. It literally replaced our mixer, harmony pedal, preamp, looper and BodyRez pedal. Plus it has effects so even more pedal replacement. I can carry everything I need for a small gig in my guitar's gig bag plus the 15 pound Bose S1. Talk about traveling light! |

Yes, it is possible to do this. I am using my Play Acoustic this way.
I did the following: 1. Bought a lithium battery from an electronic store (maybe $30.00). At least 10,000 mAh with usb outs. 2. For the usb out, you need a converter that can take the usb and change it to 12v output. They are maybe $10.00. I think the usb is putting out 5 volts and this is a step up converter. 3. Most of the step up converters have the plug that would go into the Play Acoustic as positive Center. You will need an adapter to convert to negative center. They are about $5.00. So you can spend about $50.00 - $75.00 for this, or find a battery with Ac output for around $90.00. My battery pack will last around 6 hours and does not seem to drop anything as it moves toward draining completely. I have since seen some battery packs that already have a 12v output. You just need to make sure they are Center negative as your Play Acoustic needs. They are around $60.00. Let me know if you need the links to this stuff. I bought everything on Amazon, except the battery from Best Buy. If I had do this over, I would probably go with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073P81Z9V...&pd_rd_w=XqCv7 |

Anyone have experience/an opinion on whether these two would work together to power the Play Acoustic? The Anker batteries discussed in the musictribe TCH forum don't seem to be available anymore.

To the OP- Does the Mic Mechanic run off battery long enough to get through a gig?

There is a VOLTO 3 for sale for $100 on the Sweetwater site. Is that what will work? I would consider that to power the Play Acoustic with the Bose S1's.

Thinking of buying this for my preamp.. See link below. Can be charged with solar panel, about $100 extra.

I would like a link to a few portable power supplies with 12v outlet that will power a Play Acoustic. Thank you. |
