Railroad Days by Norman Blake, obscure, almost full of angst. From 70s Blake LP, I think "Back Home in Sulphur Springs" iirc.

The most influential train song of all - in the UK anyway! (even though Lonnie Donegan's version was way inferior) And a Chuck Berry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh9c6drdYGg

Dylan also has a song called, "Slow Train".
I found this in the Definitive Bob Dylan Songbook. I don't think I've ever heard it before. I'm not sure it's appropriate, it's a pretty dark and gnarly song, that starts out with the line, "Sometimes I feel so low down and disgusted ..." It goes on from there, mostly downhill, with the last line of each of the 7 verses, "And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend." I feel a little depressed, just from reading the lyrics. Probably not a good choice. Turtle |

The Train Song by the best band you've never heard of, Knots And Crosses off they debut album Creatures Of Habit. Unfortunately they only lasted 3 albums and you can't find that song on YouTube. But it's a beautiful acoustic ballad if you can find it.
