People's interest in stuff ebbs and flow. Electric guitars aren't going to go away.

Interesting article.. No guitar heros..
Well I cant agree.. at least not for
me. But I can see their reference to
Taylor Swift influencing young women.
She is no van Halen..but she influences
None the less. But there was no mention
Of our current gig-less covid situation
And how this hopefully temporary bust
In the economy effects guitar sales.
Let's face it I buy more guitars
Than a 14 year old girl wanting to be
Taylor swift. But not now..

The article is three years old. Before Covid.

In my little world, they are alive and well, and will remain that way.

what happens on the radio, media outlets and what ever the latest "name some music awards" the TV/Media is hyping up.. honestly, I don't care enough about any of that to even care that I don't care...

Her music is not to my taste, but I very much admire her. At a very young age she took control of her own career, even managing her live events. She knows and understands her audience.

Actually he is not alone. One of the biggest challenges to aging, is figuring out how not fall into a far too often prototypical, static, "tunnel vision concept" of reality, and skewed perspective on the world. Which appears to be of epidemic proportion among us Baby Boomers.

And she writes her own songs.

I’m 42 have dedicated the last 34 years to the dream and original music. After the past decade of buying and selling, on the endless merry go round searching for my sound, I realized I shine most in acoustic. Less is more. In the said decade, the only constant has been my ‘08 SCGC OM. It’s worn in like an good ol’ Tele. Electric drives me crazy only sounding right at volumes that require headphones. The irony of that started to wear me down.

Just like anything style of music that at one point was contemporary and the center of pop culture, the worst case scenario is that it becomes more of a niche market, but it will still exist. Hopefully weeding out the crap, only quality will thrive. Sometimes for perspective I look at the count of monthly listeners on any given group on Spotify. Modern electronic music is only a fraction of the guitar driven hits of the past. I do appreciate the vast creative palate that the electronic platform promotes. He classic guitar band is fairly limiting by comparison.

Time will tell.

She solo writes some of them. She works with a lot of co-writers these days.

No doubt, she did after all originally come out of the Nashville music scene, in which co-writing is the norm.

Sure does. One of the lessons my father inadvertently taught me.
