Guitar center string club
hi!
so I just found out about GC's string club. Im somewhat new to steel string guitar I mostly play Classical guitar. So I was just wondering Does anyone know about it or if its worth it. It seems like a good deal and that it would enable me to test out various brands, gauges, and types till I find one I like best. But it also seems too good to be true.... Let me know what ya think Thanks! |

I found it to be a gimmick to get you in the store. Not a good deal, really and I never needed a set of strings per month.

I just started it. They don’t have many strings for $5 but I did go in on April and got a set of Earthwoods 80/20 on sale for $4.99. I paid .38 tax only.

It's actually a great tool to get your string box filled up and keep it that way. You just have to keep your eyes open for the brands that cost about $5. Do the math: $25 for a card that gets you $60 worth of strings. You are netting $35 dollars. Yes, the idea is to get you in the door. No, there are few string sets that actually cost on $5. But we can control ourselves and get only what we need.

If, like me, you're in the local GC at least once a month already, it's excellent. But if you have to go well out of your way to visit a GC, it's not so good a deal.

I've been wanting to put Elixers on several of my guitars, and getting them at that discount has saved me few bucks.

Thanks for all the advice! Just one more question Does the credit work like a gift card like where you can buy a set of strings for say $7 then the credit takes off $5 and you pay the difference or can the set not exceed $5?
Thanks |

well looks like I'll be joining soon then! I just wanted to see everyones opinion on here before I went to GC. If I asked the questions I asked here over there they would sell it to me in 10 seconds...... I have zero sales resistance :/ |

Be aware that it is “use it or lose it”. So you can’t rollover your $5 from this month and combine with next month to buy a $10 set of strings.
At the end of each month, your $5 is lost if you didn’t buy anything. Still a pretty good deal. Last month I bought a microfiber cleaning cost for $5.28, so paid $.28 + taxes. GC |

I Luv the nylon and carbon string selection at Strings by Mail.
They sell bass and treble sets along with individual strings. No, I'm in no way affiliated, just happy with my shopping with them. |

I tried it this year, I usually will pick up a set of Martin Retros which cost 8.99, but I have also picked up a set of ukulele strings and bass strings. So they deduct $5 from whatever you might buy.
