What is beginner in your mind? Time spent or by how many chords one knows?

thats pretty cool.
Seems useful for a beginner especially the Snow Patrol song which is really a good way to learn tempo.

Thank you both for your support.
I was thinking beginner as someone who is just learning their first few chords. I did a video showing how to play 7 open chords (Em, E, Am, C, D, G, A). I wanted to tell people that were just beginning the guitar that these 7 chords were the most useful chords to learn at first because you can play 1,000s of songs with them. I then wanted to make a video giving them some songs they could play using those chords. I already have another video on the way showing how to play the song Wagon Wheel. And I will be adding more content as I go. Going to show how to do bar chords very soon and have other things planned. Also, on my website, I'm planning to write about music theory and tell how chords are put together. Seems like a lot of people that I know have no idea what makes each chord what it is. They just know how to play it. Which is fine, but some people (like me) want to know everything they can. Thanks, Luke |

Here are my thoughts: if you can strum or fingerpick three or more songs in different keys at a dance tempo while maintaining steady rhythm you're intermediate. Some people can do that within a week depending on prior musical experience/training. Some people will take considerably longer. I've known people who've played "for years" that can't get through one song without stopping. They're still beginners. They may be forever. |

Nice job Luke in picking some easy but contemporary songs. I think it really helps a beginner to learn something they are familiar with and like vs Row Your Boat or Tom Dooley.
