Default Epiphone IB 1964 Texan

So Guitar Center's specs list the back of this model specifically as solid mahogany, however Sweetwater's site just says mahogany. does anyone have any idea if the back is indeed solid wood? For this price I don't see how it's possibly solid wood. But this model seems to typically be held in higher regard than Epiphone's other non-masterbilt acoustics. does anyone know what this thing's back is made of?

Seems like the sides might be laminate, but the back appears to be solid.

Thats what I was thinking, and thats the way Guitar Center's site seems to be advertising it. I may have just found my next slope shouldered, gas inducing piece of asian imported goodness. :P

Default Epiphone

Has a page on the Gibson forum. I have read several posts regarding this very question. Mixed reviews is what i see. I'd like to play one myself.

I play those things when I see them, and actually owned one for about three days.

There's a lot of variety in their sound. The one I had came from Sweetwater and was not only a very obvious repack, it was one of the absolutely worse sounding guitars I have ever played. A second bad experience with Sweetwater has cost them any future business with me.

Howevah, I have played several other IB 64's in stores and they range from quite nice to pretty darn bad. Whenever I find a good one I seem to be at a point where I'd rather have lunch money for the rest of the week, so I've passed. Maybe one of these days I'll find one when I am on a diet.

Try b4 u buy. At least with THIS guitar.
