Default Larrivee OM-40r

***Sold!***

This guitar has been sold. Thanks everyone for your intetest.

Up for sale is my Larrivee OM-40r. It has a beautifully colored tone, very smooth and loud. It handles flatpicking better than any other OM I tried when I was shopping, and it has opened up a lot in the year I've owned it.

I bought the Larrivee to experiment with smaller guitars, and I've decided I'm more into the big guitar sound. In fact, I just bought a larger guitar here on the forum, and I've decided that it will replace this fine Larrivee OM.

Although the Larrivee website advertises a 2 1/4" string spacing on the OM-40r, this guitar measures as 2 3/16". I read here on AGF that the company standardized its string spacing during 2016, and this one was produced in 2015, according to my lookup of the serial number.

The guitar is in great condition. There is an indentation on the back of the neck, about half an inch long--it's at the end of my thumb in the picture below. There is also a bit of fret wear, and probably a few other signs of the many happy hours I've spent playing this guitar.

Specs (from Larrivee.com, with the exception of the string spacing at saddle):
Back and sides: Indian Rosewood
Top: Sitka Spruce
Neck: Mahogany
Headplate, fingerboard, bridge: Ebony
Tuners: Open back 18:1
Finish: Satin
Nut, saddle: Bone

Scale Length: 25.5"
Upper Bout: 11.75"
Waist: 9.5"
Lower Bout: 15.25"
Body Depth: 4.25"
Nut Width: 1.75"
Saddle Spacing: 2 3/16"
Case: OHSC

Asking $1,100 with free shipping. (Price reduced)

Thanks for looking!

Shallow indentation on back of neck.

Thanks! I tried every OM I could find when I was shopping for a smaller guitar than my dreadnought.

This model has enough backbone in its tone to sound strong when I flatpick fiddle tunes, which is what I had played until I took up fingerstyle a year ago. To me, the other OMs sounded great in fingerstyle, but had a kind of honky or quacky sound under a flatpick.

That's what first drew me to the OM40R. Since the time I bought it, the tone has widened out and become a lot richer and sweeter.

But now I've bought a bigger guitar again, and I'm planning to sell my OMs.

A friend of mine got one of these a few months ago. It is an incredible guitar and a very different overall tone signature than the traditional Larrivee sound. It is incredibly lively, dynamic and powerful based on a new bracing pattern developed by Jean Larrivee. Highly recommended!!

Default Saddle pictures

A few close-ups of the bridge and saddle...

Distance from soundboard to bottom of 6th string, just in front of bridge: .450 inches.

6th string action at 12th fret: 3/32 inch. (The ruler shows 64s of an inch. The line looks like it's maybe 5/64, but in real life it looked more like 6/64.
